Cat Hammocks take Napping to the Next Level

Imagine a beautiful summer day and you’re perched between a couple of trees relaxing on your hammock. Remember how good it felt?  Well according to History.com:

To anyone who has ever enjoyed an afternoon nap while ensconced in a hammock gently rocking between two trees, it will come as no surprise that this centuries-old snoozing sling can help people fall asleep faster and achieve deeper slumber than regular beds, according to new research. 

The article goes on to say … “What you may not know, however, is that the hammock has a rich and varied history, from its Mayan origins to its adoption by the military to its present-day status as a summertime backyard fixture.”

And yet we suspect that cats have known this all along and perhaps even secretly invented hammocks, but were simply too busy purrfecting them to bother with filing all the patents.  >^..^<

Fun Fact: Columbus discovered the hammock in the Bahamas, where he stated on the 17th October 1492 that “people were sleeping in nets between the trees”. He brought the hammock back to Europe where mainly sailors started using it extensively. Instead of having to sleep on the wet, hard and not to mention dirty deck, which was infested with vermin, sailors could now sleep comfortably in their hammock, using the swell of the sea to fall asleep.
