Stray Cat Came Back to Family that Was Kind to Her, and Brought Her Kittens Along

A family gave a stray cat some food when she showed up one day. She kept coming back.

A few months ago, a family from Montreal, Canada spotted a stray cat outside and decided to help.

The cat was very shy but too hungry to resist the food. They began feeding her every day in hopes of earning her trust.

When temperatures dropped, they built a shelter for her to stay and provided food. Slowly but surely, the kitty became more comfortable and got closer to them.

Early February, they noticed that the cat didn't look so well. "She looked like she hadn't eaten for a while," Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montréal shared with Love Meow.

They approached her, and this time she didn't run. "The family discovered tiny furballs tucked underneath her belly."

As it turned out, she had given birth to four little kittens in the shelter outside. They immediately took them in. "Mama was exhausted trying to keep her babies safe."

Two of the kittens sadly didn't make it. They worried about the rest of the litter, so began to seek help for the little family.

Danielle, a local rescuer, learned about their situation and reached out to Chatons Orphelins Montréal.

The rescue took them right in. Stephanie, a foster volunteer, stepped up to help and welcomed the family of three into her foster home.

They named the cat mom Sydney and her two kittens Meli and Melo.

"Sydney is very young. She is barely one year old," Celine said. "She quickly accepted help from her caretakers and adjusted very well to her foster home."

After just 24 hours, Sydney began to seek affection and started rubbing her face all over her foster mom, giving her kisses.

"She did such a great job keeping her kittens safe, raising them until they were weaned. She was finally spayed and began spending more and more time with people," Celine said.

The momma cat is very affectionate and will chirp whenever she sees her human friends.

"She is sweet, loves attention and wants to be close to her humans at all times."

After wandering the streets and raising her kittens, Sydney was finally ready for a place to call her very own. Earlier this month, her dream came true.

Julia, a resident from Montreal, saw Sydney on Facebook and was instantly smitten. She came to meet the sweet girl and took her to her forever home.

Meli and Melo are three months old now. They have grown by leaps and bounds.

The two siblings are thriving in foster care and are ready for their next chapter of life.
