Woman Woke Up to Stray Kitten in Her Garden, Crying for Help

A woman took a chance on a tiny sick kitten when others decided to give up. What a difference a week can make!

Jodie Michele, a makeup artist from Huddersfield, UK, woke up early in the morning to a kitten's cries. She walked outside and saw a little tabby in her garden, meowing for help. "Her eyes were sealed shut due to infection and she had a bloody scab covering her nose," Jodie told Love Meow.

As soon as the kitten heard Jodie, she cried even louder and walked straight toward her as if she was seeking comfort. Once she felt her touch, she calmed down and even let out a little purr.

"She was so tiny and cold, so I scooped her up and took her inside."

Knowing that the kitten needed help, Jodie took her to work with her and spent all morning warming her up. At lunch time, she brought the kitten to a veterinary clinic to get her checked out. The tabby weighed just 340 grams and the prognosis was not good.

"The vet gave her a 50/50 chance of survival. They said, she was around five weeks but had severe cat flu and that we should put her to sleep, but I couldn't do it," Jodie told Love Meow.

Jodie could see the fight in the little kitten as she held her in her arms. She left the clinic with the kitty in her hand and a promise to turn her life around.

Over the next week, she followed a 2-hour feeding schedule and gave the kitten antibiotics and eye drops to keep her eyes clean.

The kitten, who could barely breathe without wheezing, bounced back and doubled her weight a week later. Her eyes had almost completely cleared up and her energy level was off the charts.

Watch her rescue journey in this video:

"After lots of warmth, food, antibiotics, eye drops, regular eye soaks, sleepless nights but most importantly love and cuddles, we have a happy, bouncy and healthy girl," Jodie said.

The sweet kitty has made a full recovery. She's rambunctious, playful and has quite the cattitude.

Jodie has found her a perfect home with a feline sibling to cuddle with. The two have become inseparable friends.

"Everyone deserves a chance at life and I'm so glad I was able to help her on her way," Jodie said.
